Thanks for visiting 5 after 5 co-hosted by Lisa over at Syncopated Mama and Samantha over at Motivated Days. This week I am so excited to share with you my favorite kitchen gadgets. There are some things in the kitchen that just make life so much easier. These are by far my favorite kitchen gadgets that make cooking such a joy!
This, my friends, is sir-mix-a-lot. He is, hands down, my favorite kitchen gadget. He helps me make my favorite chocolate chip cookies, the dough for my tortillas, and the whipped cream for my favorite desserts. It is also the first big gift my husband ever bought me. He brought it home one year for mothers day after I had been drooling over one for months. I wasn’t yet a conventional mother, but we had just gotten a puppy and he said that counted. I use this gadget for EVERYTHING that I possibly can. It is awesome.
2.) Pastry Mat
This one was another gift from the hubby. As I’ve written previously, we love watching The Great British Baking Show. Every time that we watch it I would admire Kate’s pastry mat that she uses to roll pie dough. Christmas came around and this baby was under the tree. I absolutely love it! I use it most often for tortillas. It helps me keep a standard round shape and also keeps it from sticking to the counter. I can’t wait to use it for pie! I see a blueberry pie in my future.
3.) Electric Kettle
I don’t like coffee. I’ve tried, but no matter what I do I just can’t seem to find that love for it that other people seem to have. I do, however, love tea. I drink tea in the morning and just about every night before bed. So when we stopped finding pods for our Keurig 2 (grrrrrr) we decided to switch to an electric kettle instead. It has been fantastic! My husband gets up every morning and makes his coffee in his french press and then I have all the hot water I could desire for tea. And it only takes a couple minutes for boiling lava hot water at my fingertips *score*.
4.) Baking Mat
Yes, another mat. I love the baking capabilities of parchment, but I’m uber lazy and don’t want to trim the paper. So this handy dandy silicon baking mat is my saving grace. I just pop this baby in the pan and then nothing sticks! Miracle!
5.) Belgian Waffle Maker
Okay, so this one I don’t use all that often. My husband likes to remind me of this fact every time we do a kitchen purge. But, I love it nonetheless. It makes the fluffiest most delicious Belgian waffles! Every Christmas we have a tradition of eating Belgian waffles with strawberries and freshly made whipped cream. So good, thanks to this handy gadget!
