I absolutely love reading. It has been a favorite past time of mine since I was a little kid. I have fond memories of driving in the car with my mom to elementary school and reading Little House on the Praire out loud. I love how reading can transport you to another time, another place, and allow you to escape from reality for even a short time.
This week’s prompt for 5 after 5 (cohosted by Lisa over at Syncopated Mama and Samantha at Motivated Days) was 5 books that you would take with you to a deserted island. This one was uber tough for me! Only 5 books for potentially the rest of my life!? Yikes. I fought the urge to channel Dwight Schrute here:
Fine, Physicians Desk Reference. Hollowed out. Inside, waterproof matches, iodine tablets, beet seeds, protein bars, NASA blanket, and, in case I get bored, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. No, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
Here’s my list after several edits:
1.) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Classic. Must have.
2.) Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix by J.K. Rowling
I’m listening to this right now on audiobook and it’s blowing my mind. I’d love to sit down with the hard copy and read it. And on a deserted island something tells me I’ll have some time to kill. And also practice my magic.
3.) Are You There Vodka, It’s Me Chelsea by Chelsea Handler
Because on a deserted island I could use some humor. And Chelsea Handler always makes me giggle.
4.) Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson
Just for some variety, let’s throw in a romantic tear-jerker.
5.) The Stand by Steven King
Because I’ve never finished a Steven King novel and I’ll finally have the time. Worse comes to worse, I’ll have some fuel for my fire.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my list! Next week’s topic is something awesome! Be sure to link up your post below and come back next week.
